About Us

The Lingua Moderna website, like its companion Lingua Classica, has been created as a volunteer effort to serve educational needs as a public service. Lingua Moderna was created initially to provide resources for teachers of English as a second language (ESL).

Lingua Moderna is not a commercial endeavor. The small costs of hosting the site are met in conjunction with unrelated software development work. We do not accept advertising because the returns today are trivial and because advertisements can be distracting for ESL students inexperienced with English and may even lead them inadvertently astray.

Lingua Moderna is managed in association with Adjutans Technologies Inc., a social enterprise created to develop affordable software for non-profit organizations. Language-learning exercises on the Lingua Moderna website were developed by volunteer software developers who also work for Adjutans and are copyrighted by Adjutans Technologies. Adjutans Technologies does not otherwise have responsibility for the content or management of the Lingua Moderna website.
